The 2024 Summer Olympics Games are coming up! From July 26, 2024, through August 11, 2024, talented athletes from around the world will compete in Paris, France in various sports to showcase their amazing skills. From swimming to gymnastics to rowing and even surfing, the Olympic Games offer a sport for everyone to enjoy! Here are 5 fun ways to celebrate the Olympics at home with your kids and family.

  1. Host your own Olympic Opening Ceremony
Kick off the Olympic fun by creating your own Olympic Opening Ceremony at home! Have everyone choose an outfit-the more creative the better! Pick some inspirational songs and gather everyone to parade through the house or yard. End the celebration with a fun dance!

  2. Design some Olympic art
Inspire your kids to get their creative juices flowing by creating Olympic themed art! Have your kids paint or use chalk to create their own versions of the famous Olympic rings, create an Olympic torch using a paper towel roll and colorful tissue paper, or even draw pictures of some of the Olympic sports. Hang the artwork on the fridge or throughout the house to get into the spirit of the Olympics!

  3. Create a backyard obstacle course
Have your kids create the ultimate backyard obstacle course! Use jump ropes, hula hoops, cones, balls or anything else they can think of-the possibilities are endless!   Everyone in the family can join in on the fun. Take turns running through the course. Maybe use a timer to see who can complete it the fastest! Bonus points if you can create 2 of the same courses side by side for even more friendly competition!

  4. Craft your own medals
What are the Olympics without the famous gold, silver and bronze medals? Encourage your kids to use craft supplies to create their very own Olympic medals. Use string or yarn, colored construction paper or anything they can find around the house! Use the medals in your family's very own Olympic award ceremony! Bonus points for creating an at home Olympic podium!

  5. Come up with a new sport
The Olympics are a time to showcase many different sports. Why not have the kids try to create their own unique sport? Brainstorm ideas for a new sport and then make it come to life! Use objects from around the house, things from nature or even outdoor toys to create the ultimate new sport or game! Play the newly invented sport as a family!
